in2013.

haveagreed todivide their repsective
interests in theKai KosDehseh (KKD)
oilsandsproject, located inAlberta,
Canada.
The transactionwill seeStatoil
carryonas100%owner andoperator
of theLeismer andCornerprojects
whilstPTTEPwill take100%ownership
of theThornbury,Hangingstoneand
SouthLeismer areas. Statoil is tomakea
balancingpayment ofUS$200millionand
anadjustment ofworkingcapital.

ProductionbeginsatBP’sWestChiragplatform
TheAzerbaijan InternationalOperatingCompany (AIOC), operatedbyBP, has
announced the start-upof oil production from theWestChiragplatformaspart of the
Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG) fielddevelopment in theAzerbaijan sectorof theCaspianSea.
Start-upof theWestChiragplatformcompletes theChiragOil Project (COP) sanctioned
in2010.
ProductionatWestChiragebegan from theJ05well. Theoilwill pass through the
platform’snewly installedprocessing facilitiesbeforebeingexportedviapipeline to the
Sangachai Terminal. Production isexpected to increase throughout 2014asadditional
pre-drilledwellsarebrought online.
BP’sRegional President forAzerbaijan, GeorgiaandTurkey, GordonBirrell said, “The
start-upof COPmarksamajormilestone in thedevelopment of the super-giant ACG field.
[...] Todate theACG fieldhasproducedover 2.3billionbblsof oil andwith futurecontinual
major investments innew technologiesand facilities [...], itwill continue toproduceas
aworld-class reservoir formanydecades. BPas theoperatorof theACG fieldandour
partnersarecommitted tocontinuing theefforts that areexpected to takeus stepby step
towards theoptimisationof productionandmaximisationof field recovery.Webelieve
COP representsabig step forward towards stabilisingACG’sproductionand increasing
recoverybydrillingmorewells from thenewWestChirag facility.”
TheWestChiragplatform is located inwaterdepthsof approximately170m, and is
situatedbetween theexistingChiraganddeepwaterGunashli platforms.
