AbuDhabi is leading thewaveof oil and
gas investment in theMENA region.
(Figure2).Themajorityof thesecontracts (53)are forworkonprojects
inAbuDhabi,where thegovernment isaggressivelypursuinggas
developments to fuel itsshi togas-firedpowergeneration.
Aswouldbeexpected,given theUAEhasawarded themost
majorupstreamcontracts, thereare fourEmiratioperators in this list,
allofwhichareAbuDhabi-based.AbuDhabiNationalOilCompany
(ADNOC)has ledcontractingactivity (Figure3),awarding20contracts
across twomajordevelopments inAbuDhabi: theSatahal-Razboot
(SARB)gas fielddevelopment in thePersianGulf,and theShahsour
gasdevelopment in thesouthwestof theEmirate.Themajorityof
thesecontracts,11EPCand twoPMCcontracts,wereawardedon
theUS$ 10billionShahproject. In totalADNOChasawarded16EPC,
oneFEEDand threePMCcontractson theprojects,whichboth
include theconstructionofartificial islands toaccommodatedrilling,
productionandprocessingoperations inshallowwater.
ADNOC isalsoamajorityshareholder in the remaining three
AbuDhabi-basedoperators in the top12. TheZakumDevelopment
Company (ZADCO), a joint venturecompanybetweenADNOC,
JapanOilDevelopmentCompanyandExxonMobil, hasawarded
14contractsacross threedevelopments inAbuDhabi; AbuDhabi
Company forOnshoreOilOperations (ADCO)hasawarded
11contractsacross twodevelopments; andAbuDhabiMarine
OperatingCompany (Adma-Opco)hasawarded fivecontractsacross
threedevelopments.
