Terramac® LLC, a manufacturer
of innovative rubber track crawler
carriers, has designed the Terramac
RT9 multipurpose crawler carrier to
tackle a variety of applications for a
number of industries, including oil and
gas. The largest mid-sized rubber track
carrier that does not require special
oversize permitting to transport the
machine, the RT9 can be customised
with an array of equipment, such as
cranes, drills, flatbeds, generators and
tanks.
Electrical power sources, frame
adjustments and hydraulics can be
customised to suit any configuration. The
RT9 eliminates the need for additional
equipment and minimises environmental
impact and restoration costs associated with
jobsite ground damage. With an operating
weight of 26 000 lbs (11 794 kg) and a maximum
carrying capacity of 18 000 lbs (8165 kg),
the RT9 is equipped with a 230 hp (172 kW)
Cummins diesel engine.
Welding and sandblasting
applications
The RT9 crawler carrier is ideal for drilling,
material handling, sandblasting, welding and
site investigation applications on oil and gas
construction projects. The crawler carrier can
be easily outfitted with a variety of tools and
equipment, such as cranes, sandblasters and
vacuum excavators to assist with pipeline
construction.
“The RT9 helps us with the welding on
the job,” said Bill Marhofer, President of
Sideline Specialty Equipment, LLC, a Conroe,
Texas-based supplier of specialised pipeline
equipment to the domestic and international
pipeline industry. “We’ve equipped our RT9
carriers with cranes and mobile platforms for
all the welding power, to move up and down
the pipeline right-of-way.”
“We’ve also equipped the RT9 with a crane
that can pick up a portable welding shelter,
heating coils and sandblasting equipment,”
Marhofer said. “On the back of the RT9, we
