oal mining is an industry punctuated with heavy‑duty
trucks. Picture a modern coal mine and, more often than
not, your mind’s eye will conjure images of dumper trucks
laden with the compressed remains of long fossilised flora
and fauna. This comes as no surprise: despite modern technology
leading to new methods of extracting raw materials, the logistical side
of transporting raw materials still relies heavily on the brute
horsepower of dumper trucks.
