W
ith LNG forecast to become the fastest growing
fuel source during the next 20 years, one of
the key challenges facing the industry is to
ensure the safe and productive transport and transfer of
LNG. Demand for LNG is expected to increase four-fold and
part of that growth is attributed to the introduction of the
application of LNG as a fuel for ships and ferries.
The stringent environmental regulations enacted by the
International Maritime Organization (IMO), particularly at
the level of the Emission Control Areas (ECA), have served
as a catalyst for exploring the use of LNG as a marine fuel.
