DEVIATIONS
A
hazard and operability (HAZOP) study
uses guide words to identify all deviations
from design specifications, applicable
codes or operation intent with undesirable effects for
safety, reliability or operability. The HAZOP process
is based on the principle that a team approach to
hazard analysis can identify more problems than
individuals working separately. Based on experience,
this approach has been suitable for hazard analysis and
operability study.
The HAZOP team is made up of individuals with
varying backgrounds and expertise related to the
study scope of gas compressor stations and related
pipeline. The expertise is brought together during
sessions and through a collective brainstorming effort,
which stimulates creativity, a thorough review of the
gas compressor station facility and pipeline under
