Exova partners with Endures
Exova has agreed a strategic partnership
with Endures in the Netherlands. Endures’
Den Helder centre is primarily focused
on the marine and offshore industry, and
its team of scientists oversees research
and testing in microbiological corrosion
through DNA analysis, bio and anti-
fouling, and mechanical, chemical and
electrochemical corrosion.
The centre’s unique location provides
direct access to natural seawater for
offshore exposure and in-house
simulation testing. As a C5M weathering
location, testing is carried out in the
harshest corrosion environment possible.
The strategic partnership extends the
range of services available to Exova’s
customers and forms part of a global
network of specialist coatings testing and
inspection laboratories worldwide.
Robin McGill, European Director for
Oil & Gas at Exova, said: “This strategic
partnership extends the range of
technically demanding services that we
can provide to customers in the marine,
energy and oil and gas sectors. Endures
has an enviable reputation and our
combined teams will create unrivalled
expertise in Marine, pipeline and
protective coatings testing and
inspection”.

KMCC pipeline extension
Kinder Morgan Energy Partners, LP, will
invest approximately US$ 54 million to
build an interconnect and other facilities
for its Kinger Morgan Crude and
Condensate (KMCC) pipeline after
entering into a long-term transportation
agreement with Republic Midstream
Marketing, LLC.
Republic will construct a gathering
pipeline from Lavaca County, Texas, to
the new interconnection at KMP’s
DeWitt Station, near Cuero, Texas. In
addition, KMP will build two storage
tanks, truck offloading racks and related
facilities. The project is expected to
come online in June 2015.
“We are pleased to enter into this
agreement with Republic, as it gives
KMCC access to additional Eagle Ford
production areas in Gonzales and Lavaca
counties,” said Don Lindley, President of
Natural Gas Liquids for KMP. “We have
now secured long-term commitments
for more than 75% of the 300 000 bpd
of capacity on KMCC. Including joint
ventures and other projects, KMP’s
planned investments related to Eagle
Ford crude and condensate opportunities
currently total approximately
US$ 1 billion, all of which are supported
by long-term customer contracts.”
Exxon restarts Pegasus
pipeline
ExxonMobil has restarted a section of its
Pegasus pipeline in Texas more than a
year after a crude oil spill in central
Arkansas forced the company to shut
down the entire line on 29
th
March, 2013.
The Texas section runs 205 miles
between Corsicana and Beaumont and
6 miles segment between Beaumont and
Nederland.
The federal Pipeline and Hazardous
Materials Safety Administration approved
the oil company’s restart plan for the
section. Federal guidelines state the
pipeline segments must operate at partial
capacity. The restriction will remain in
effect until ExxonMobil gets written
permission to do otherwise.
The pipeline carries approximately
95 000 bpd of crude oil from Pakota,
Illinois, to Nederland, Texas.
